Main Street Gettysburg, Inc. is pleased to announce the continuation of its Zero-Interest Loan Program, which has already provided over $300,000 in loans to qualified commercial property owners in the borough. This vital program offers financial assistance to property owners looking to improve the exterior and functionality of their buildings, providing up to $10,000 in zero-interest loans.

The Zero-Interest Loan Program is designed to encourage the revitalization of Gettysburg’s historic and commercial properties, helping property owners meet necessary improvements while maintaining the town’s character and charm. The program covers a wide range of eligible improvements, including:
- Façade enhancements such as painting, signage replacement, and repairs
- Roof repairs or replacement
- Sidewalk repairs
- Electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning system upgrades
- Handicapped accessibility modifications
- Architectural fees for design services
- Correction of code deficiencies

“The Zero-Interest Loan Program has had a tremendous impact on our local community,” said Jill Sellers, President of Main Street Gettysburg. “With these loans, we can enable essential upgrades that benefit both businesses and the overall vitality of our historic downtown. We’re excited to offer this valuable resource to encourage investment in Gettysburg’s future.”
Eligibility Criteria and Terms: To qualify for the program, projects must be located within the Borough of Gettysburg, and funds can only be used for eligible improvements in accordance with the borough’s ordinances and guidelines. Applicants must submit a completed application, two written quotes from licensed contractors, and documentation demonstrating the financial ability to repay the loan.
- Loan Amount: $1,000 to $10,000 per property
- Repayment Term: Maximum five years
- Program Fee: $150 non-refundable application fee; 1% origination fee at closing
- Approval Process: Applications are reviewed by the Main Street Gettysburg Executive Committee and, if approved, recommended to the Board of Directors for final approval
Ineligible Items:
- Residential rental unit improvements
- Non-permanent equipment or merchandising fixtures
- Demolition or property acquisition
- New construction or working capital
Main Street Gettysburg continues to reserve the right to request collateral for loans and to modify program criteria at its discretion.
