Umansky described Relator’s allegations as cooked up facts as the company “is in no way connected to Defendants: Relator was not previously employed by Defendants nor is it otherwise affiliated with Defendants.” 

He concluded that the company cannot “ascertain or know firsthand the facts surrounding The Agency’s application for PPP loans in the shadow of the COVID-19 global pandemic due to their questionable proximity to the case.”

The TV star continued in the filing that Relator LLC released statements about the real estate agent and his firm using “publicly available gross sales figures and PPP loan information.”

“Relator makes conclusory statements about The Agency’s financial position that are illogical and unfounded. Relator improperly equates gross sales figures with profits and liquidity,” the real estate guru argued.

He accused the company of speculating about what percentage of real estate sales The Agency would have received. Umansky added that they then affirmed that his company was falsifying payroll numbers without possessing any concrete information confirming their narrative. 

The court decided to unseal Relator LLC’s allegations in August 2024, revealing that the company initially filed the petition in July 2023.

The documents identified Umansky, his business partner William “Billy” Rose, and their real estate company, The Agency, as conspiring to embezzle loans intended for struggling businesses.

“This is a case about greed during a national health emergency,” the plaintiff noted in the filing. According to Relator LLC, Umansky had applied to receive two Payroll Protection Program (PPP) and CARES Act loans during the COVID-19 pandemic via The Agency.

The filing argued that the loan schemes were not created to “bolster or preserve the profits of a business that had sufficient funds available to pay its employees.” Instead, they were established to salvage the employment status of workers by businesses that could not pay them.

Ignorant of the fate awaiting him, the reality star reportedly bought an expensive luxury condo in West Hollywood months before Relator LLC came out guns blazing.

Umansky’s new home was reportedly in the same building where Matt Damon bought his $8.6 million unit. A source close to Umansky explained that his relocation did not surprise him since he was separated from Richards.

They claimed Umansky and Richards “have been living separately for the last few months, and he’s been staying there.” The insider added that the duo’s frequent travels also influenced their decision not to coexist inside the same property.
